Chiswell Roofing Ltd was established on the 1st February 2017 by father and son, Terry and Sam Chiswell.
Terry has 50 years of experience; he started working for the well-respected company Dryden and Kennedy a few months before his 16th birthday and then went onto a teaching role in roof slating and tiling at a Leeds based college for 14 years. This is where he became interested in Health & Safety and went on to do training courses in the subject. Then in 2017 along with his son, Sam, he set up Chiswell Roofing Ltd.
Terry has an NVQ Level 3 in roof slating and tiling, an NVQ Level 2 in built up felt roofing, a NEBOSH General Certificate, IOSH Managing Safety, and CMI Level 5 Business Studies.
Sam followed in his father’s footsteps when, at 16, after leaving school on completion of his GCSE’s, he started working for a local roofing company where he gained an NVQ Level 2 in roof slating and tiling, as well as a certificate in GRP (Glass Reinforced Roofing) flat roofing. He is now working towards an NVQ Level 6 Diplomas in Construction Site Management.
Chiswell Roofing Ltd believe in training, with the business offering apprenticeships and training to interested young people. Two of the young people who came to work for them early in the companies start up years have both achieved NVQ Level 2 roof slating and tiling, as well as certificates in PASMA, IPAF, working at height, asbestos awareness, manual handling, and abrasive wheels with safe use of disc cutter as well as first aid.
